Dennis Prager spoke with a woman at the Democratic convention yesterday, who argued that "equal pay for equal work" was necessary for women to have heroes they identify with. I agree that it is vitally important for girls to have female heroes, and my first thought in response to this woman was, why should a hero be defined by how much money she makes? Some of my heroes are my mom and Mother Theresa, two women who haven't exactly raked it in. This morning, I wake up to the exciting news that we all have a new hero: Sarah Palin!
This woman is a hero not bacause of her pay scale, but because the is a woman of conviction; a mom of 5 who started her political involvement in the PTA! An eloquent, confident woman who isn't afraid to do what she knows is right! A "hockey mom" who stands by her beliefs and isn't afraid to shake things up, even within her own party!
Palin is a vice presidential candidate we can truly relate to. She is the perfect choice, and I applaud Senator McCain for introducing America to this hero.
